Hier eine Zusammenfassung der Eindrücke von Lars (Molotow TV host, Kopenhagen)

"For many years I had dreamt of travelling to Moscow. A legendary city, the center of Eastern Europe, a place far away from where I came from and where graffiti was just starting to blossom.

The preparations for the trip was massive, it took me 5 trips to the local Russian embassy and countless hours waiting in line before I could get my required visa. When the plane landed in Moscows international airport, it became clear that this place was truly different. The special smell of Moscow in the air and the long, long lines at the airport for visa-check and registration. The Russian national sport must be waiting in line...

We, the Molotow TV crew, were picked up at the airport by our local contact, Dennis from the Sabotage agency and several things quickly became clear to us.

You need a local contact to make your way round in Moscow.

Moscow is incredibly big.

And the traffic is unbelievably heavy.

After spending a couple of hours in crosstown traffic we finally made it to the hotel and after checking in, with more Russian paperwork and waiting in line, we went to the metro and headed for the Red Square. The Moscow subway is absolutely amazing. I have seen many subways in my life, but this one was the greatest. Old, long trains, running constantly. Big worn down cars, running really fast in the old tunnels. Every station is unique and with great interior design. Marble and communist symbols are everywhere, yet there are very few signs to guide people around and its almost impossible to find out where to go if you cant read the syrillic alphabet. And the whole place is complete clean of any sign of graffiti or vandalism, both the stations and the traincars.

We made it to the center of Moscow and walked a few streets down towards the Red Square. The whole area had a great atmosphere and you could feel the vibe of power and historical greatness in the cold autumn air. After passing the KGB headquarters we were there, the famous Red Square with its big open space, the Kremlin behind the great wall and the trademark russian-style cathedrals. A breathtaking site.

The following day we hooked up with the crew from Code Red magazine and went to a local hall of fame called Aftersavotsky, siuated in an out of use carpark under the Ring 3 highway. We brought a bunch of Molotow cans with us and quickly arranged a little paint session with some of the best writers in Moscow. Zmogk from True Stilo crew, Aske from Code Red and a member of the KGM crew. The hall of fame had some nice quality graffiti already and these guys quickly started doing their individual styles. Right next to the hall of fame was a a big traintrack area where long, old freighttrains rolled by all day and there was even a few longdistance trains parked there. The track area in Russia is like a normal road for the local people, they cross it, walk up and down the tracks and even chill there, a very casual atmosphere. Not like the emptyness and high security of western Europes tracksides.

The three pieces started to come out, all three were quiet different. Zmogk was working on his trademark robot-style, using many colours and good technique. The KGM piece was coming more like a soft Scandinavian train-style and Aske was doing his piece like a logo with straight lines and alot of cutting all over his piece. Great variety for three pieces. After putting in the finishing touches and the Molotow TV tag, it was time for a quick photo session before we headed out into the busy afternoon crosstown traffic of Moscow.

The following day we went with Dennis from Sabotage agency to check out his latest graffiti project in Moscow. He didnt tell us much about it in advance, all we knew was that we were going to see ”a wall” he had organised with some writers painting. To our big surprise we go to a local Moscow neighborhood with normal residential buildings, quiet small for Russian standards but still around 4 stories high. Here Dennis organised, not 1, but 12 BIG walls or rather, murals.

It was amazing to see how the strangely grey, clean and dull Moscow all of a sudden were getting 12 huge colorfull murals with styles from all over the world. Several of the murals were already finished, and they looked quiet different. Some where abstract paintings, some where brazillian design, executed by local Moscow writers, some were being worked on while we walked around the neighborhood and one wasnt started yet. In the middle of the neighborhood there was a small fortress, or as we found out, a policestation with lots of uniformed officers chilling and smoking cigarettes outside, paying no attention to the artist painting away around them.

All the murals where done on big shaky scaffolds with a mix of spray and rollerpaint. Much to our surprise we suddenly hear some Dutch talk at one of the murals and we learn that one of the murals were being painted by a group of oldschool Dutch writers and artists from the punk scene. Dennis showed us around and told us about the different artist and we stopped at the wall his own crew was  working on, a very nice mural of Goldielocks, a beautiful lady with golden hair swirweling around the buildings facade.

We passed the 310 crew when they were almost finished with their mural that contained an interesting mix of pop-art, abstract art and photorealism. All the writers working on the murals seemed very happy about the job. The local residents didnt seem to pay the murals any attention except for one very angry man that tried to start a big argument with us while walking with his little daughter, I guess you get these anti-cultural citizens in every city in the world. The only locals that seem to enjoy this art-invasion of their neighborhood was the small kids that ran around shouthing and screaming, stealing scrapcans, trying to tag on the ground before puncturing them or setting them on fire!! When we left and walked back to the metro it seemed unreal that Moscow was being blessed with such a big artproject but with new times comes new things and there are definetely many more walls and buildings in Moscow that could use a touch of art and spraypaint.

The following day Dennis took us to the airport express train, a simple mission for him but for us it would have been close to impossible to find the right station, buy the ticket and find the right track because of the language barrier. The train was everything but express, but after a long picturesque train ride where we passed so many different train types, we finally made it to the airport and caught the plane out of Russia. It was 4 days filled with new experiences, great adventure and impressions to last a lifetime. We hope to come back next year for another mural event or for a graffiti jam.

Man konnte national bekannte und sehr talentierte Künstler aus der HipHop, Reggae, Funk und Soul Szene für das Festival begeistern. Speziell auf der HipHop- Bühne werden abwechselnd  Live- Bands und DeeJays mit Rappern und Sängern kombiniert, um für eine musikalische Abwechslung in höchster Form zu sorgen. Dabei sein werden unter Anderem Toni L & Safarisounds, Torch aka DeeJay Haitian Star (360° Soundsystem), Flowin Immo & Les Freaqz, Olli Banjo, Aphroe (RAG) & DeeJay Rafik feat. Das HipHop- Programm wird unter dem Motto „Kampf gegen Hunger und Armut“ statt finden.

Graffiti Programm

Zu der Millenniumskampagne mit dem Motto „Acht Ziele – Acht Jahre“ wird eine bis zu 50 Meter lange Konzept- Fläche von professionellen Graffiti- Künstlern besprüht. Unter dem Motto „Kampf gegen Hunger und Armut“ wird die Wand in zwei Konzepten aufgeteilt. Die eine Seite wird die Gründe für Hunger, Armut, Kriege und vor allem das Sterben der Kulturen wiederspiegeln, während die andere Seite die Schönheit der Kulturen zeigen wird, die wegen den genannten Gründen vom Aussterben bedroht sind.

Der Stuttgarter Künstler DINGO (Autor des Graffiti- Buches „Sprüher im Rudel“), wird die Graffiti- Projekte zusammen mit seiner Gruppe BABUSCHKREW leiten und koordinieren. Die Künstler selbst halten Kontakt, um auch ein sehr gutes Ergebnis abzuliefern. Die Cans kommen direkt von der weltweiten Nummer Eins „Molotow“.

Da auch Graffiti in Deutschland eine sehr lange und vor allem schöne Geschichte hinter sich, aber auch vor sich hat, treffen Urgesteine und wichtige Persönlichkeiten wie Bomber, Dingo oder die SCM Crew auf junge und aufstrebende Künstler wie Hombre, Julian Vogel, Akeem und die MBS Crew.

Für alle Graffiti- Bewundere sind Blackbooks und Fotoapparate am Samstag dem 30.06.2007 ein Muss!

Im Laufe der letzten Jahre gab es jede Menge Produktionen in australischen Nachbarschaften der Städte und insgesamt auf dem australischen Kontinent. Einige Crews zeigen sich ganz bewusst, andere nicht. Einige bleiben 20 Jahre bestehen, andere nur eine Nacht.  

Molotow Australien hat begonnen eine Menge von australischen Crews und es scheint,als ob wirklich jeder eine Chance bekommt. Das Buch zeigt eine Menge von Innovativen und interessanten Ideen, die mit ihrer Form und ihrem Inhalt faszinieren. Das Ziel ist stets dasselbe, aber jeweils auf zwei verschiedene Art und Weisen umgesetzt.

Auf der einen Seite findet sich die Annäherung zum Graffiti – d.h. besonders Wandmalereien – auf der anderen Seite spricht man vom Graphikdesign -  die Kunst, die durch Designerwerkzeuge wie Impression, Fotographie und grafische Datenverarbeitung entsteht.

Das Buch enthält 27 Arbeiten von Künstlern sowie auch Informationen zu deren zahlreichen Reisen. Außerdem gibt es vier Interviews mit Neck, Zedz, Toast und Boe/Viagrafik.

Wir feiern den fünften Geburtstag vomWrite4Gold an 5 verschiedenen Austragungsorten. Austragungsorte dieses 5ten Kapitels werden diesmal  die 5 europäische Städte Budapest (Ungarn), Wien (Österreich), Haaksbergen (Niederlande), Rom (Italien) und das Roskildefestival in Dänemark sein

Wer malt bei den Write4Gold Classics 2007?

Die Teilnehmer der Write4Gold Classics sind Gewinner oder Zweitplazierten der letzten europaweiten Ausscheide.

Ist dort auch Extrafläche zu Malen vorhanden?

Ja, falls Ihr gern auf den Classics malen wollt, sendet uns Eure Anmeldung über unser Formular zu.

Wer bewertet die Classic Wettkämpfe?

Die Bewertung erfolgt einerseits wie gewohnt durch eine Jury vor Ort, sowie ganz NEU durch die Crews selbst. Es wird ein verbessertes Bewertungssystem  umgesetzt, bei dem jeweils zwei Mitglieder eines jeden Teams die Möglichkeit haben, Punkte für die Arbeiten der anderen Crews zu vergeben, die dann von der Jury zusammengezählt werden und damit der Gewinner ermittelt wird. Wenn dieses Systemgut funktioniert, werden wir es auch in der Zukunft anwenden.

Gehen die Gewinner der Write4Gold Classics 2007 zum Finale?

Nein, die Write4Gold Classics sind Non-Qualification Events. Wir halten Preise bereit, die später bekanntgegeben werden.

Was passiert dieses Jahr mit dem Splash! Festival ?

Zum Splash! Festival 2007, daß dieses Jahr auf der Halbinsel Pouch bei Leipzig stattfinden wird, gibt es dann zum krönenden Abschluss die Hauptwettbewerbe der Write4Gold Classics Tour. Dahin werden die Gewinner und Zweitplazierten der World Finals eingeladen, um dort den 5. Geburtstag des Write4Gold ausgiebig zu feiern und natürlich auch, um um den Write4Gold Classic Titel zu malen

Soll das heißen, dieses Jahr findet kein offizieller Write4Gold Wettbewerb  statt?

Nach den Classics  geht es schon im Herbst weiter mit dem 6ten Kapitel des Write4Golds und damit mit den ersten offiziellen, weltweiten Wettbewerbsausscheiden. Austragungsorte werden in Südafrika, Australien, USA,China und Neuseeland sein.

Wann findet die nächste offizielle Europacompetition statt?

Im Frühling 2008 starten wir mit unseren nächsten offiziellen Europaausscheiden! Das bedeutet , dass auf den Finals 2008 die Gewinner  der Übersee- (herbst 2007) und der nächsten Europaausscheide im Frühling und Sommer 2008 gegeneinander antreten werden. Die nächsten offiziellen Finals werden auf dem Splash! 2008 stattfinden.
