Taki183 Interview
vom 19.01.2010
Graffiti writers around the world know the name that started it all: Taki183. A greek kid from 183rd Street in Washington Heights. Taki183’s simple signature captured the attention of a reporter and, on July 21, 1971, the article “TAKI 183 Spawns Pen Pals” appeared in The New York Times.(PDF Download). Just like that, he became a graffiti legend, with rumors spreading that he even tagged a Secret Service car and the Statue of Liberty. Amid all the rumors, Taki183 remained silent. Now, almost four decades later, Taki183 has emerged to tell a bit of his story. Our friend Roger Gastman sat down with 57 years old Taki for this ilovegraffiti.de Smalltalk.

Ewok Interview
vom 17.11.2009
"For me graffiti is a love/hate relationship. I made a decision to keep graffiti out of the paintings I sell. It may seem "graffiti"-ish but that's just who I am I suppose. But I don't do letters or any of that anymore as I don't think a person who can write a check deserves the thing that has brought me so much hardship as well as joy in my life, they don't deserve what it is that I keep close to my heart. And with the quality of graffiti around me these days deminishing yearly, I keep the experience graffiti brings me personal and private for myself and the people I rock with. The same way I wouldn't take pictures of my wife and sell them to someone just 'cuz they got money and I need to pay my rent. I rather be broke then shit on my wife like that.... does that make any sense? When it's time for me to go do graffiti, it's something personal for me that no one else gets to feel, other then the after product of it that I leave behind."

Kem5 Interview
vom 12.11.2009
"Everything came to a breaking point over the past few years with so many clean trains and spots being done the local authorities started cracking down. It goes in cycles but traditionally our city has had a zero-tolerance for graffiti. Domestically overall the States get’s it in! Over the past year certain cities and writers have really shined. We have a great freight scene, which most other countries do not have. Internationally I think Brighton England and Australia have healthy scenes. Sorry about the bland answers. "
