Colour Mania by Victionary
vom 24.09.2009
Where the world dances in a veritable kaleidoscope of colours, everything becomes one of its kinds in their unique colours even if they are flat and mute. Just when the general gravitate towards colours for its timeless glamour, some fathom the beauty of simple palettes and are kindled to formulate the little pixels that compose the big pictures that shape the characters in our everyday life.
Taking a glance at a rambling collection of works, extensively covering campaigns, illustrations, branding, packaging, products and more, “Colour Mania“ manifests how unicolour designs draw on the essence of nine colours and a rainbow tone, and project powerful impacts in an era ablaze with all sorts of hues. A cluster of designers from all around the globe would articulate how colours connect to them in every sense alongside their designs showcased in ten colour categories and the composition of every one of them. 312 pages, more about the book here over at victionary.com

London Handstyles
vom 02.09.2009
Last week Hot110 saw the launch of a brand new London based graffiti book, London Handstyles. It’s a surprise that a city the size of London with such a rich graffiti culture going back to the 80s has only until recently had it’s own dedicated book. The exhibition itself was simple, no thrills - bombed wall to wall by writers with quotes and images from the book itself lining the walls of The Rarekind Gallery. Alcohol flowed to the beats of our own DJ Getz and others whilst the gallery filled with writers old and new and appreciators of the culture.

Graffiti New York
vom 20.07.2009
Former graffiti artist Eric “DEAL CIA Felisbret has spent over 30 years documenting New York City graffiti. Luke “SPAR ONE Felisbret is a graffiti artist and historian whose work has been widely exhibited. Together they launched www.at149st.com, a documentation of New York City graffiti’s culture and history. James Prigoff is coauthor of the classic Spraycan Art. He lives in Sacramento, California.
"Decades after the movement globalized, New York is still the mecca of graffiti culture. Painting there is a badge of honor, with graffiti artists from around the globe making pilgrimages to New York for that purpose. This is the city where it all began, yet few know the back story. Graffiti New York fills that gap, detailing the concepts, aesthetics, ideals, and social structures that have served as a cultural blueprint for graffiti movements across the world. The book features approximately 1,000 images, complemented by texts by the authors and relevant players in the movement, as well as descriptive graphics and sidebars. Ranging from the birth of simple signature tags to today’s vibrant murals, and covering the ups and downs of the movement, the culture’s value system, its social framework, the various forms of graffiti, and significant artists and crews, Graffiti New York is a major addition to Abrams' superb books on graffiti art."
